George Turks, Jr, Pastor
Bio
George Turks, Jr. is the son of the George & Hannah Turks, born in Memphis and educated in the Memphis City Schools. He received a Bachelor of Social Work from Memphis State University.
He began preaching in September 1979 at St. Andrew A.M.E. Church and was admitted into the West TN Annual Conference in 1980, assigned to serve at the Ewell Chapel & Spring Chapel. He pastored for 39 years in the A.M.E. Church. He retired in 2020 from the active service of the A.M.E. Church.
He is presently serving as the pastor of the Rock of Ages C.M.E. Church and Holsey Chapel C.M.E. Church in the Southwest District of the First Episcopal Church.
Reverend Turks have been married to Teresa Kenley Turks for 37 years. They are the parents of 4 children and have 4 grandchildren.
Reverend Turks serves as the Chair of The Dyer County Foster Care Review Board, on the Northwest TN Economic Development Council, on the Dyer County School Disciplinary Board, and a Member of the NAACP.
